Dr Cassandre Balosso-Bardin

Dr Cassandre Balosso-Bardin is an Assistant Professor in Cultural Musicology at the University of Leuven in Belgium. She previously held an Associate Professorship in music at University of Lincoln, UK. In 2022-23 she was a Senior Fellow at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. Her research focuses on musical instruments, instrument makers, cultural sustainability, revivals, intercultural music making and Mediterranean music. She has published in a range of journals and edited collections (Ethnomusicology Forum, JASA, Yearbook for Traditional Music, Galpin Journal…) and is regularly invited to give talks and guest lectures (National University of Seoul, Cambridge University, European Commission, Liverpool University, Newcastle University, University of Vienna…). Cassandre is the founding director of the International Bagpipe Organisation, established in 2012, promoting bagpipes from around the world.
