The Prizes Officer oversees all activity related to the BFE’s prizes: the Book Prize for outstanding scholarship in ethnomusicology, the Early Career Prize for a distinguished article written by a BFE member who is in the early stages of a career, Fieldwork Grants to support doctoral candidates conducting ethnomusicological field research, the BFE-RAI Film Award for an outstanding film about music or sound, and the BFE Student Prize for the best student paper presented at the BFE Annual Conference. The Prizes Officer recruits judges, coordinates the activities of judging committees, develops new prize ideas in liaison with the Executive Committee, and oversees the publication of prize calls and of announcements of prize winners.
